Trip Overview
Sikles trek offers six-day camping trip to the typical Gurung village with the spectacular mountain views and terraced field in the Annapurna region that is located the east of Pokhara. Kalikasthan village is the hike starting point after 6-hour car ride from the Kathmandu. The second-largest Gurung settlement is interesting with the culture, ethnic language, and lifestyle. The rhododendron blooms in spring along the trail. The maximum height of the trip is 2600 m at Jhakarphulan. The ACAP developed the route. This is altitude free hill region of Nepal.
Sikles trekking is popular with the snow-capped mountains, including Annapurna II (7939 m), Annapurna IV (7525 m) and Fishtail (6993 m). There are views of famous lakes, including the Begnas, Rupa, Khaste, and Maide. We pass through terraced fields, several villages, a forest of the rhododendron and broad-leaf mixed. The civilisation of the ethnic group is unique in farming. The Gurung people recruit every year in the England army. This is the hometown of Gurkha. Numerous vegetation and wildlife are recorded here.
Sikles trek is exciting to visit the museum with an ethical and natural history. Enjoy the villager’s warm hospitality with the mother group’s folk dance after dinner. Sometimes the spiritual and traditional dance known as the Ghanto can observe here. You can involve in a honey hunting tour in the harvesting season if you spend more days in the village. The route passes through the Bijayapur Khola, Bhung Khola, and Seti River during the hiking. The vibrant dress with ornament, tradition, culture and friendly people with the rhododendron flower and spectacular views of the mountain peaks are the memory of the trip. Sikles trek Itinerary
Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu
Meet in the Airport, drive to the hotel with breakfast in Kathmandu.
Day 02: Full day sightseeing in Kathmandu – 6 hours
Professional Tour Guide comes at 9 AM with a car to the hotel door. Ride the car, the guide explains about Nepal. The four UNESCO world heritage sites include Swayambhunath (1st century) is popular for the Buddhist Stupa, the activity of the Assamese monkey and the panoramic view of Kathmandu Valley and the Himalaya. Kathmandu Durbar Square (12th to 18th century) is popular for royal palace squares, museum, Kasthamandap, the Living Goddess Kumari, Freak Street, wood carving and temple architecture. Pashupatinath (5th century) is famous for the cremation ghat, Pashupatinath Temple, the shrines with Shiva Lingam and Yoni, the Hindu holy men (Sadhus) and an activity of the Assamese monkey and deer in the sub-tropical forest. Boudhanath (5th century) is famous for the second largest Stupa in the world, Tibetan refugee settlement, painting school, huge prayer wheel, prayer flag and monastery with the monk and lama.
Day 03: Drive to Kalikasthan – 6/7 hours
During the Kathmandu-Kalikasthan driving, snow-capped mountains, Trishuli River valley, cable car station, Marsyangdi River valley, highway towns, terraced fields, villages, domestic animals and jungles are interesting. Kathmandu to highway town Malekhu is 72 km. Here you can rest for lunch, toilet and river scene. Malekhu to Kurintar is 32 km; here is cable car to Manakamana. Kurintar to highway town Mughling is 6 km, here is one road goes to Chitwan and Lumbini. Mugling to Abukhaireni is 6 km. Here one road goes to Gorkha Durbar. Abukhaireni to Dumre is 17 km. Here one road goes to Besishahar for Annapurna Circuit Trek. Dumre to highway town Damauli is 16 km. Damauli to Kalikasthan is 50 km. Stay overnight here.
Day 04: Kalikasthan to Lamakhet (1680 m) – 4/5 hours
Walkthrough a village of caste and ethnic group with terraced fields towards Mardi Khola. Walk along the riverbank, passing through Bhaise and Nawaldanda to reach Lamakhet. It is a small village, surrounded by green hills. Stay overnight here.
Day 05: Lamakhet to Sikles (1980 m) – 4/5 hours
Walk with a flat level trail through river bank. Continue to Khilagaon then climb gently uphill at first and steeply climb while further. Walkthrough Parju village and climb uphill to reach Sikles. It is the second-largest village of Gurung people. You see the home of Gorkha, traditional dance, culture, lifestyle and custom here. Stay overnight here.
Day 06: Sikles to Nyaulikharka (2200 m) – 4/5 hours
Walkthrough the forest of rhododendron and broad-leaf mixed. The trail is gradually uphill at the beginning. Walk some flat land to reach forest camp known as Nyaulikharka. It is surrounded by forest. Stay overnight here.
Day 07: Nyaulikharka to Ghalegaon (2000 m) – 5 hours
Walkthrough a forest of rhododendron and oak. Climb uphill to reach a Jhakarphulan Pass (2600 m) then Climb downhill steeply to Ghalegaon. It is a small village of Magar and Gurung people. Stay overnight here.
Day 08: Ghalegaon to Pokhara (830 m) – 3/4 hours
Walkthrough a forest with climbing, downhill to Bhujungkhola Bridge and Tallakot. Walk along the bank of Seti River with a view of Fishtail. Cross a suspension bridge over Sardikhola and Mardikhola and keep continues to reach Hemja village. Ride the 20-minute bus to Pokhara. Stay overnight at hotel in Pokhara.
Day 09: Drive to Kathmandu 1350m - 7 hours
Kathmandu is located 204 km east of Pokhara. Tourist bus takes 7 hours to approach there.
Day 10: Drive to Airport
It takes 25 minutes to the airport
