Mustang is a remote sub-kingdom within the Himalayan region of north-central Nepal. The name “Mustang” is derived from the Tibetan word meaning “Plain of Aspiration.”
The word “Mustang” is a Tibetan word, which means “Plain of Aspiration.” Muktinath temple of Mustang is one of the sacred places for Hindu and Buddhists too. Muktinath is a Vishnu temple, sacred to both Hindus and Buddhists. It is located in Muktinath Valley at Thorong La mountain pass in Mustang, Nepal. It is one of the world's highest temples (altitude 3,800 m) and is one of the Char Dham in Nepal.
Marpha the name itself reflects the "mar" meaning hard-working and "pha" meaning people. The village is the apple capital in the nation, with Marpha brandy and jams produced from local fruits. The village is a common overnight halt on the Annapurna Circuit.
Mustang tour starts from Kathmandu on a jeep drive to Pokhara and then to the Lo-Mangthang. Covering around 555km from Kathmandu to Mustang, it is a pleasant yet adventurous drive. The diverse landscape that you will experience will drive you to the beautiful scenery and the mountain ranges. It will also take you to the deepest gorge in the world, the Kaligandaki gorge. As you pass to the Tatopani and Nepal's Marpha village, you will then enter the Lo-Manthang.
The valley is windy as the wind blows from the south and moves towards the Tibetan border. It is a barren land in the Annapurna region; the rain shows Nepal's region. The maximum elevation that you will experience in the trip is 4650 m, and the difficulty level is easy.

Best way to reach Mustang
Mustang trip by your motorbike
You can take a motorbike from Pokhara via Beni and follow the road connecting lower mustang and upper mustang. Finally, you can reach up to Lo - Manthang of Upper Mustang.

Mustang tour by flight
There is no direct flight from Kathmandu, so Jomsom airport is the nearest airport to Mustang. So, first, you need to reach Pokhara and then take a trip to Jomsom. Flights to Jomsom are frequently delayed as the place is windy.
On the other hand, flights from Pokhara to Jomsom are operated only in the morning, so a night stay at Pokhara is compulsory.

Mustang Tour Package Itinerary
3 night 4 days Mustang tour package from Kathmandu Itinerary:
Day 1: Kathmandu - Pokhara - Beni - Tatopani
- Pickup at 5 am
- lunch in Damauli
- overnight at Tatopani
Today early in the morning we start our exotic journey from Kathmandu. We drive via Mugling, Dumre, Pokhara through Prithivi Highway. We will have our lunch in Ramilo Dada, Kurintar. Then we move towards Mugling and then cross Narayani river to Pokhara, then head towards Tatopani via Kusma, the world's second-highest bungee & Beni. After arriving there we will have dinner and stay over there.
Day 2: Tatopani - Jomsom - Kagbeni - Muktinath
- The trip starts at 5 am

- lunch in Muktinath after worship
- overnight in Lete
Today early in the morning we will head towards Muktinath from Tatopani exploring Marpha and Kagbeni. Whereas there is a blacktop road from Kagbeni till Muktinath. After exploring Muktinath we will have lunch over there and head back to Lete. Overnight over there in Lete.
Day 3: Lete - Beni - Pokhara
- 6 am wakeup and breakfast

- drive to Pokhara
Today early in the morning we will take breakfast and drive back to Pokhara. whereas lunch in Beni, exploring Rupse Falls, Baglung Kalika Temple, Kusma bridge, Sarang Kot hills. This is the last night of our trip so we will roam around the lakeside market and overnight in Pokhara.
Day 4: Drive to Pokhara and back to Kathmandu
On this very last day of our trip, we will get a chance to see the exotic scenery of the Macchapuchre and Annapurna ranges (*if the weather is clear). And after taking breakfast we will explore Phewa Lake, Gupteshower Cave, David falls, and Santi stupa. After lunch, we will drive back to Kathmandu.
