Trip Overview

Another grand walk embracing the best of the Everest culture and landscape in the enchanting Gokyo Valley and picture-perfect sights in the Kalapatthar and Gokyo Ri vantage points, while excluding the challenge of passing the Cho La pass.

This is a safer and a more laidback alternative trek that includes the Everest base camp, Kalapatthar and Gokyo Valley. A moderately challenging trek that takes you on a detour into the fantastic wilderness of the Gokyo valley, it does not miss out on the more popular destinations like Kalapatthar and the Everest base camp. The trek familiarizes you to different facets of the Everest region without the difficult walk through the Cho La pass. Trekkers are expected to be fit and have maintain a sound health.

The trek moves along the classic Everest base camp trek and branches off into the escalating path towards Gokyo which is a lot quieter and offers much freshness in terms of landscape and overall trekking experience. The path cuts through valleys, rivers, streams and huge glaciers making for an exciting walk. The trails higher up open up to beautiful views and some spectacular mountains like Taboche, Cholatse, Aadablam and Thamserku. As you venture into the Sagarmatha National park, the flora and fauna is another aspect of the trek that allures you. Trains of yaks and mules and the mountain goats are commong sightings. However, there is a chance of seeing the Himalayan pheasant, Himalayan Tahr, the Himalayan Monal and other rare species. The Rhododendron, birch and pine forest, diverse Sherpa settlements, memorials, monasteries, gateways and others add character to the vivacity of the trek.
A thrilling option to this adventure walk is the Gokyo-EBC trek which takes a different route and crosses through the Cho La pass.
