Trip Overview

Langtang Gosainkunda (Holy Lake) trekking 17 days is perfectly designed for those trekkers who desires and appreciates to experience frozen Lakes with fresh water on high elevation at the height of (4,380 m) above the sea level.

Langtang Gosainkunda trekking emerges with scenic bus ride to Syabrubesi and hike up to Kyanjing Ghompa, which arrests Langtang valley. Retracing backward and catching the right track, we head towards Thulo Syabru. Therefore, continuing walk forward takes to sight three wonderful lakes at high altitude of 4,380 m. From there passing numerous of temples, monuments, mini walls and pleasing forests walking trial ends at Melamchi Bazaar and catching a tourist standard vehicle takes to Kathmandu. This trekking trail also encounter numerous of stunning peaks of Langtang region including Langtang Range and Ganesh Himal with many more other neighboring mountains too.

Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival day in Kathmandu (1,300 m)

First day focusing your arrival time, our representatives will be awaiting you at Tribhuwan International Airport for warm welcome along after that you will be further transferred towards fine tourist standard hotel. We also schedule meeting for introducing you with our trekking members.

Day 2: Kathmandu sightseeing and trek preparation

Second day soon after attending morning hot breakfast, we take our step ahead for sightseeing Pashupatinath Temple, Swyambhunath Stupa and Boudhanath Stupa which are included on list of UNESCO World Heritage Site. After sightseeing these sites for some hours, we return back to finalize our essential equipments those which are required for upcoming trek. This second night will also be spent at same spot in Kathmandu.

Day 3: Kathmandu (1,300) to Syabrubesi (1,460 m) 9 hours drive 

Third day after breakfast, our private vehicle drops you to bus station for catching tourist standard vehicle to reach Syabrubeshi. Moving ahead from valley towards north following Pasang Lamu highway and by passing numerous of settlements, Trishuli Bazaar is extended. From there, following the graveled path and crossing Dunuche takes to Syabrubesi for tonight’s accommodation and dinner.

Day 4: Syabrubesi (1,460 m) to Lama Hotel (2,455 m)

Fourth day after morning breakfast in syabrubesi, we develop our walk forward by crossing first bridge of trekking across the Bhote Koshi River. After that steeping ahead, we cross stone paved trail along pass numerous of settlements and bridges to reach road junction. From here, descent walk takes to Changdam and night will be spent on famous Lama Hotel which is located inside the forest.

Day 5: Lama Hotel (2,455 m) to Langtang (3,430 m)

Fifth day after having breakfast in Lama Hotel, we trigger it behind and continue our walk through path of forest by following the trail. Therefore continuing walk by passing numerous settlements along crossing Langtang Khola, we reach Ghodatabela. From there, we ascend to Chamki and chasing trek forward catching the trail Langtang (largest settlement of this area) is offered.  This night will be spent at lodge in Langtang.

Day 6: Langtang (3,430 m) to Keynjing Gompa (3,870 m)

Sixth day leaving Langtang (Tibetan village), we climb up to the ridge and then a steady ascend takes us to Sindum crossing Mumdu. Therefore passing cheese factory with spectacular view of stunning mountains including Langtang Himal to the northwest and Yansa Tsenji and Kinshung towards north takes to Keynjing Gompa. On remaining hour, we explore Keynjing Gompa area and the night will be spent at lodge there.

Day 7: Exploration day

As we are already above height of 3,800 m so focusing upon acclimatization, we don’t develop our trek forward but we stay full active for entire day. We plan to walk up towards east of Keynjing Gompa to explore Tsergo RI or hike up to the glacier as on option. On remaining hour you can side trip to Cheese factory or Keynjing Gompa village throughout and night will be spent at same lodge in same place.

Day 8: Keynjing Gompa (3,870 m) to Lama Hotel (2,455 m)

Eighth day retracing the same earlier developed trail, we cross several Tamang villages including Langtang and Thyangyap village to reach Ghodatabela which shares Tibetan culture. Therefore, continuing the walk forward by following the trail by passing opposed monasteries and forests takes to Lama Hotel. This night will be spent at famous Lama Hotel in Changdam.

Day 9: Lama Hotel (2,455 m) to Thulo Syabru (2,550 m)

Ninth day developing trek through the north bank of Langtang River, we walk downhill towards the riverside for crossing a bridge across the river and after crossing the bridge, trail drops down following the south bank of river for passing another bridge to reach Syabrubesi. Therefore, following uphill trail to the rigid and a little drop down continuous towards Thulo Syabru. Finally this night will be spent at lodge in Thulo Syabru.

Day 10: Thulo Syabru (2,550 m) to Chandanbari (3,330 m)

Tenth day, we hike up to the rigid to sight an awesome views of Ganesh Himal, Langtang Mountain and other Tibetan Mountains. Therefore, passing an oak and rhododendron forest with flat trail walk takes to Shin Gompa by crossing Phuung Gompa. Further proceed from there, we reach Chandanbari and remaining hours will be spent on exploring Cheese factory and Gompas along night will be spent at lodge.

Day 11: Chandanbari (3,330 m) to Gosainkunda (4,165 m)

Eleventh day crossing the cheese factory, our gentle ascent takes to Lauribina for viewing the mountain vistas. Therefore, we move forward passing several roofless huts to reach the pass which offer first view of the holy lakes. The first Lake (Saraswati Kunda), Second Lake (Bhairab Kunda) and the final largest lake is Goasin Kunda till where we walk today. Remaining hours will be spent on exploring lakes and this night will spent at lodge there.

Day 12: Gosainkunda (4,165 m) to Ghopte (3,430 m)

Twelfth day, our forward developed step following the rocky trail and by passing few lakes takes us to Lauribina Passat. Therefore, steep downhill walk through a rocky trail moves towards Phedi along a gentle upward walk and downhill to summer pastures offers Ghopte. Tonight’s accommodation and dinner will be managed at lodge in Ghopte.

Day 13: Ghopte (3,430 m) to Melamchi village (3,530 m)

Thirteenth day, initially trail takes us down and later we ascend through the rhododendron forest till junction point of two opposed trekking trails in Tharepati. Therefore following our trail, we descent to Melamchi (Sherpa village) surrounded by beautiful rhododendron forest. Remaining hours will be spent by exploring the monasteries and the village of Melamchi throughout along night will be spent at lodge.

Day 14: Melamchi village (3,530 m) to Shermathang (2,590 m)

Fourteenth day, from Melamchi village developed trail descends up to Melamchi River and after crossing river, we walk on flat land which makes your walk quite easy till Tarkheghyang. Therefore, we forward descend following the same trial till Setighyang and following the secondary road from there, we ascend to Ghangyul and then descend to Shermathang. Leisure hours will be spent by exploring the village and night will be spent at lodge.

Day 15: Shermathang (2,590 m) to Melamchi Bazaar (870 m)

Fifteenth day the last day of our walk begins with downward march through meadow and cultivated fields passing numerous of temples, monuments and unique settlements, until we reach Indrawati River to cross the bridge over. After crossing the bridge, we move forward to cross another bridge at the junction point of Indrawati River and Melamchi River. Finally after steeping Melamchi Bazaar, tonight’s accommodation and dinner will the managed there.

Day 16: Melamchi Bazaar (870 m) to Kathmandu (1,300 m) 4 hours drive

Sixteenth day after sweet early morning breakfast, we move forward to catch tourist standard vehicle towards bus station and soon after reaching Kathmandu, you will be picked up by our private vehicle for shifting towards fine resturant for farewell dinner.

Day 17: Departure day

Seventeenth day the last day for your trip, you can go for quick shopping to collect some gifts and memories for your loving ones.  We help you for your necessary arrangements and pack ups along our private vehicle transfers you to the airport focusing your departure schedule. Our representatives will be there at airport to wish for your safe flight and successful steps ahead.

Useful Info

Visa Information

All visitors are required to arrange a visa in order to enter Nepal. A Nepalese visa can be easily obtained upon arrival on arrival in Kathmandu at the airport or Nepalese embassy abroad. But nationals from Afghanistan, Iraq, Cameroon, Ghana, Somalia, Swaziland, Palestine, Zimbabwe, Nigeria, Ethiopia and Liberia cannot secure the Nepalese Visa upon arrival. The Visa can also be secured at entry point at Nepalese borders. A valid passport for at least six months, recent digital photo (size: 1.5" x 1.5") will be required and you can obtain visas for Nepal from the Nepalese Consulate in your country or up on arrival in Kathmandu Airport. Nepalese visas cost USD 25 for 15 days and USD 40 for 30 days till date.

Official Papers

Some of the required official documents are your valid passport, 4 extra passport sized photographs (for trekking permits), travel insurance, airline tickets and luggage tags. Visas can be obtained upon entry into Nepal.

Weather Information

Weather in the mountains is pretty difficult to predict.  Nights are generally cooler and days are warm.  Months of winter (January and February) are bit colder but the days can be quite beautiful and warm if the sun is out. It snows during the month of January, February and December in Himalayan areas.

Best time to travel

Nepal offers diversified geographical regions and so as the climatic condition differs from the Himalayas to the plains. The climate varies as per the season. Nepal generally offers 4 seasons amongst which autumn and spring are the two most favorable ones for visiting Nepal. It is always wise to know about the weather and climatic condition of the place you visit. The best time to travel really depends on your destination, activities and season of travel. Our destination specialists will recommend certain travel times after learning more about your preferences. The favorable months for trekking and climbing are usually September – November, and February – April. The monsoon season is June – August.

Physical Fitness

Even though the physical fitness plays an important role in trekking you don’t have to be super athletes or a marathon runner to trek in Nepal.  Many people of good fitness for their age can complete the trek. You can prepare yourself before hand by doing some yoga which will prepare you in your breathing as you will be going to the higher altitude. Running or hiking to hills, going for a long walk will also help you. And if you live in urban area running in the stairs of a tall building will also work better in keeping you fit for trekking. All though these preparations aren’t strictly compulsory, you can do well even when the preparations you do aren’t rigorous like that of some ultra-athletic person. Do these things in moderate pace for two months or even less.  And you are set to complete any trekking to Nepal.

Travel Insurance

Doing the insurance while trekking is Nepal is not compulsory but will surely help you a lot if you do one, as it covers any comprehensive expenses possible to acquire due to medical issues or accidents. Your travel insurance must protect air ambulance, treatment charge, rescue and evacuation, product cancellation and refundable charges, flight delay and cancellations. We suggest you to bring you travel insurance certificate or send us scan copy and it must be issued from your home land. We do not arrange or sell insurance so you can find your local travel insurance for this.

Vaccination for Nepal

All travelers should consult with their physician or update on vaccination requirements before travel. (Your doctor or health-care provider will determine what you will need, depending on factors such as your health and immunization history, areas of the country you will be visiting, and planned activities) For traveling to Nepal; we recommend you to take a vaccination of Polio, Tetanus, Typhoid, Hepatitis A, Hepatitis B, Rabies etc, it is not really must but recommended.

We need 20% booking amount to confirm your booking, the payment can be made through the Bank transfer, Credit card payment (Master/Visa card) or through online money transfers also Money Gram, Western Unions or others. After we get the 20% amount we will confirm your booking and you will get the official booking and payment receipt. The final balance for the tour will be paid upon arrival in Kathmandu.

Safety Guidelines

  • Do proper research about the company that you are planning to trek with and make sure they are legally registered travel agency.
  • You should be well acquainted about the travel health and travel insurance before travelling.
  • Have idea about the climate, geography, temperature and environment of Nepal before starting your trip.
  • Using credit cards instead of cash is a wiser idea.
  • Majority of the Nepalese people are nicer but there are few scammers you will come meet on your way and need to avoid them, for example ‘holy men’ who will try to plant a tika (a red paste denoting a blessing) on your forehead demanding a payment for it on streets.
  • Be careful while buying the medicinal herbs as some may be illegal for you t take home and also be aware of duplicate products.
  • Never get yourself involve in doing drugs, trafficking and sexual relations with children as there is a strict rules for these cases and might get yourself into a big problem.
  • Take copies of your passport, visa, air ticket and trekking permits and keep them separately from the originals.
  • Prepare yourself for altitude sickness and be familiar with its symptoms so that you can follow the guidelines for safe acclimatization.
